WH-347 IN EXCEL

Still preparing WH-347 in Excel? A practical alternative

A WH-347 spreadsheet can start as a simple weekly task. Then a worker changes classification, a rate changes, or a reviewer asks which version was signed. If you are copying payroll data into Excel and tracking questions in email, the next improvement may be a connected review workflow rather than another template.

When a spreadsheet still works

For a small, occasional reporting job, a carefully maintained spreadsheet may be enough. Keep a controlled copy, identify who reviews it, and confirm the recipient's requirements. Software is worth considering when re-entering data, finding supporting records and coordinating corrections become recurring work.

What a WH-347 template does not organize for you

A template gives you places to enter values. Your process still needs to connect those values to the payroll export, the project's selected wage determination, worker classifications and the review decisions behind the report. Separate spreadsheets and email threads can make that connection difficult to follow.

  • Which source payroll produced this report?
  • Which wage-determination version was selected for the work dates?
  • Who is reviewing an outstanding exception?
  • Where are the signed report and its supporting history?

From payroll CSV to reviewed report in PaidReady

Export payroll as a CSV, map its columns and inspect the import preview. Resolve unmatched workers, projects and classifications before committing the records. Save the mapping for future exports; review each import because export layouts and source data can change.

Once payroll is reviewed, prepare the certified payroll draft. ReadyCheck evaluates enabled rules against the recorded facts. Investigate findings, assign exceptions and correct the source records before rerunning checks. Your team confirms the reporting facts and declarations before an authorized signer signs.

What is automated, and what still needs you?

PaidReady brings imports, report preparation, versioned findings and document history into one workspace. It does not decide whether a law applies to your contract, establish that a fringe plan is creditable, or guarantee agency acceptance. Missing information needs review; it is not replaced with a guessed answer.

Electronic signing uses DocuSeal. You can also generate an unsigned copy for a handwritten signature and retain the uploaded scan. Confirm how your recipient accepts signatures and submissions; storing a scan is not the same as creating a verified electronic signature.

Try the workflow before moving your live reporting

Use PaidReady's sample data to practice the process. For your own company, the First report plan includes one project, two login seats and your first signed WH-347 free, with no card required. Contractor is $49/month or $490/year; Business is $99/month or $990/year. Annual billing saves two months compared with twelve monthly payments. Review current limits and trial terms on the pricing page.

Keep the original payroll export, verify the prepared report against your records, and confirm the delivery format with your recipient. Your payroll provider continues to process wages and payroll taxes.

Is WH347 different from WH-347?

WH347 is a common way of writing WH-347 without the hyphen. Both refer to the same federal certified payroll form. Use the official DOL form and instructions as your reference, rather than an undated spreadsheet found online.

In PaidReady

PaidReady records the facts these rules depend on — determination versions by date, classifications, hours by day, fringe and apprentice facts — and reviews them with explainable checks before you prepare and sign the WH-347. It does not decide which laws apply to your project and does not replace your payroll provider.
